Along with popular theme parks such as Disney World Resorts, there are now a whole host of other new things to get familiar with. SeaWorld has a new water park called Aquatica, Universal Studios has a new motion simulator ride called the Simpsons and CityWalk has a new karaoke club where you’re the star.
If you haven’t been to lately, there are all sorts of new Orlando attractions to see. Universal Studios has a new ride open called The Simpsons at Universal Studios. The ride is based on all the characters you know from the show, join Homer and the family on their misadventures as they head out to spend the day at the fictional amusement park called Krustyland. This motion simulator ride is projected onto an 80 foot dome and gives you the feeling that you are actually in the car with the Simpson family as they go through the park and town.

Well…. Art Deco mania has hit hard and those of you that have been lucky enough to view the eye candy at South Beach, Miami know that if we could shrink any of those gorgeous Art Deco hotels and put them on a fringy black ribbon, we would have a sensational necklace! Oh wait a minute, Lanvin has already done that for their fantastic 2008 fall runway show!

If you’ve ever spent a late afternoon on the beaches of east central Florida, you probably noticed the lines of brown pelicans flying south around 5:00. Like many Space Coast workers, they’re headed for home - in this case, Pelican Island, located near Sebastian, Florida.
As you drive through the city of Sebastian, you will see signs proudly announcing that Sebastian is the home of Pelican Island National Wildlife Refuge. The Refuge consists of the three-acre Pelican Island and another couple of acres of surrounding water in the Indian River Lagoon. The Refuge was established by President Theodore Roosevelt in 1903 to protect egrets and other birds from plume hunters, and bears the distinction of being the first wildlife refuge in the United States.

I’ve lived on the east coast of Florida for many years but it wasn’t until recently that I spent a few days in the Panhandle. I was so surprised at how different it was from all the other places I had been in Florida, and I have been all over Florida. For one thing the water is a beautiful shade of emerald green and the beaches are white sand where as the water along the east coast are a beautiful clear blue and the beaches are a lovely oatmeal color, quite a contrast. One of the other things I noticed about Florida Panhandle Beaches was how the area, especially around Destin, was so beautiful and peaceful. There were tree lined streets, small pastel painted houses, outdoor malls that were cleverly disguised as quaint wood framed buildings which held all the designer brands and labels and at least a dozen well manicured golf courses.

So, its mid summer and you haven’t had a chance to get out of the house for a vacation yet, but you really want to head down to Central Florida to experience all it has to offer. With so many places of interest, you never know where you might go. Well, why not take this chance to get away from the mundane of simple theme parks and join millions of others whom favor one of Florida’s most precious gifts: Water! And the competition to attract you as an honored guest at each of the Florida Water Parks is fierce.

After all said and done as much as I enjoy the “buzz” of Orlando with it’s theme parks and attractions there comes a time when you just want to unwind and chill out. Or maybe it is not your type of thing to mix it up with the mouse.
Then the ideal place is South Florida and Fort Myers or Naples in particular. I love these places they are so far removed from the hustle and bustle of Orlando with an almost “Caribbean” laid back way of life.
